Refuge of Majada Del Cojo
This unique refuge is located in the mountains, at 1,700 meters of altitude and about 7 kilometers from the urban center. It is a simple building, built during the twentieth century taking advantage of the mountainside and made with materials from the area. Its plant is rectangular and has two heights with individual entrances. Originally it was the home of the forest ranger, until in 1985 it was rehabilitated by the Directorate General of Architecture of the Community of Madrid, to dedicate it to mountain refuge.
Currently this facility dependent on the Community of Madrid is closed, although in recent years has been part of the network of shelters and shelters in the region in active. However, the ascent to the refuge is a very attractive route, for which it is enough to follow the indications of the Route of the Majada del Cojo (which runs along the Great Route 10) and deviate to the right to reach the edge of the pine forest . The views from this mountain refuge speak for themselves.
